I'm not stopping here!

- I thought I couldn’t succeed in life, because no one was there for me. Then I started a vocational training course and learned about business management. Now I’m running my own beauty salon.

“My name is Arosha Lakshani. I am from Polonnaruwa District in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province. This is where I went to school and qualified to pursue higher studies. But I did not have the resources to do so.

In my family, it is me, my mother, father, and brother; but they are not with me. Since age six, my childhood was spent in hostels and with friends. Still, I do not have a home of my own.

I always thought that I would not be able to succeed in life because I did not have any of them with me. I heard about the Rajarata Praja Kendraya (RPK) from a friend and went looking for it on my own.

- I’m really happy about myself and how far I’ve come in two years.

I studied beauty culture for six months and did on-the-job training for one year. I learnt about working with people, about developing a business and followed additional workshops. I had no clue about managing finances but learnt how to when starting my own salon.

Today, I am no longer a person asking for a job but am one who employs people.”
